Touring Cape Cod...

Cape Cod is one of those places that one should take the time to enjoy.  We did a day trip, so we didn't have time to also enjoy Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard.  We will have to take the ferries the next time we are in the area.
Crossing the river to Cape Cod.  Did you know that Cape Cod is actually an island?  The river cuts it off from Buzzard Bay to Cape Cod Bay... It's official, we are at the seashore... well, at least the park along the seashore.
Nauset Lighthouse These three lighthouses were part of the Nauset Beach  Light Station, which originally stood a quarter mile away, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.  These three "ladies" help sailors get around the Outer Banks of Cape Cod from 1838 to 1911 before they were moved here to their display site.
Stopping for lunch at Bob's Sub & Cone.  We enjoy a hotdog and drink :) We stopped at Truro Vineyards to do a little wine tasting.
A view of some of the sand dunes from the Province Lands Visitor Center. We then headed over to Race Point Beach, Jim is heading down towards the water.
These RV's are drying camping along the beach.  The life guard is on the job...
The next beach was Herring Cove.  It costs $15.00 each time you want to park at the various beaches, we got to park for free since we have the Golden Age pass. Lots and Lots of cars parked along the beach to that their owners can enjoy the sand and sun.
Race Point Light across the saw grass. People out walking on the jetty at Herring Cove.

Provincetown (or better known as P'town) was really cute and very busy.  There was a festival going on, we drove past it, lots of guys in drag and a party was going on! Pilgrim Monument, you can walk to the top, I couldn't get Jim to do that today.
The view of Beach  Point, lots of summer homes along the beach. You can play golf right after you check out the lighthouse.
Looking across the golf course at the Highland Lighthouse. The lighthouse and small museum.
I did get Jim to climb up to the top of this lighthouse, the stairs go round and round... A view of the golf course from the top and if you look really close, you can see the pilgrim monument in the background...
This is a cranberry bog.  I always thought they looked like they do on TV.  They look like this until they flood them so that they can rake and gather the cranberries. Ripening cranberries...
Sunset on the drive home from Cape Cod. Another view as we head down the road...
