Michigan Tippling Heritage Trail Ohio Savoring Sailing on Lake Erie Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, CAN New York Wine

Have you figured out one of the main themes on this trip yet? ;)

We are back in Ohio, enjoying our visit with Jim's brother Phil and his wife Terri.  They enjoy wine almost as much as we do (actually just as much :), in fact, so much, they make their own wine.  We tried some of theirs while staying in their driveway along with some of "ours".  It took us a couple of days to get to all the wineries we did, but we got there.  Three are repeat visits (Harpersfield, Laurello, St. Joseph) and the other three are new to us.

The first two wineries we visited were visited in conjunction with some of their sailing friends riding their bicycles from winery to winery.  In this case, I am glad we didn't have our bikes with us :P  We drove and met up with them at two on their itinerary.

Back again, back again, jiggity, jig... The setting for Harpersfield is very pretty, and the tasting room is very nice inside too.
Visiting with their sailing friends, many of them we have met before.  This is in the outside seating area of Harpersfield. I couldn't pass up these flowers, just loved the contrast of color and textures.
Waiting for the biking friends at Laurello.  We enjoy this winery, they make some Italian style wines.  They also make a Pinot Noir and get their grapes from Oregon. Still waiting, friends have joined us that live on a sailboat during the summer, but in the winter, they live in Austin, Texas.
Ok, now they are here, along with lots of other people... (table on the left). that came in on this party bus.
This was a new winery for us, and we are glad that we made it for a tasting this trip. Off the road and set back, it is a great setting for enjoying a little wine tasting.
We have our wine all lined up in front of us, bet you can't guess which seat is mine (6 different wines that just had to be tasted :).  Phil on the left, Jim, and Terri on the right.  We also enjoyed a little munchie while here.  Grand River also has a couple of local beers that can be tasted if you are so inclined. I couldn't pass this up.  This is painted on the wall, yet looks 2D and almost 3D.  Now I am thinking I might have to have something like this at my house!
Our favorite Ohio winery, St. Joseph Vineyard!  We made an appointment to stop and do a little tasting. Waiting for Doreen (owner) to come back from the house to the tasting room (on their property, right next to the vineyard).
Jim, Terri & Phil chatting with Doreen as we taste some of their wine.  They grow their own Pinot Noir, one of the very few in Ohio and it's very good. The four wine-sketeers having some fun!
Another party bus or trolley in this case, but this one was full of Applebee's employees doing a little wine tasting (you know, the neighborhood restaurant). Baby grapes at St. Joseph Vineyard... aren't they cute :)
Saturday, we made it to Farinacci, they are only open on Saturdays. It is very small yet, just a couple of years old.   They need time to age also...
South River Vineyard, the moved this church board by board from another location for their tasting room.  They did a really great job.  If you look really closely, you can see the vineyards to the left in the back. They still have some of the original pews, but rearranged for chatting and eating.  They can serve you a nice bread and cheese plate to enjoy with their wine.  That's Terri, Jim and Phil at the tasting bar...
The view off the back porch of the church.  Vineyards as far as the eye can see and all South River Vineyards. We went back on Saturday to St. Joseph, I wanted to share a bottle of Lenne Pinot Noir with Art & Doreen, and we decided to stay and enjoy a bottle of their Syrah and a lovely cheese & cracker plate on their back patio.  It was a perfect place to just chat.
We always have fun wine tasting and truly enjoy going to Ohio wineries.  If you ever get a chance, you should give a few a try!
