| A corner of Staten Island with a very hazy Manhattan in the background and a fire boat doing it's thing. | Fort Wadsworth - has guarded the entrance to New York Harbor for over 200 years. Strategically located on the bank of the Verrazano Narrows on the Staten Island coast, it has the distinction of being the fort with the longest continuous military history in the country. |

| We were staying in Lancaster County, PA, known for their Amish community. This is an Amish farm, they are harvesting their corn using horse drawn machinery. | We also went to Hershey, PA, home of Hershey Chocolate (yummo). The amusement park and water park were closed (oh darn) but the ride showing how they make the chocolate was running and the store was open.

| You've got to love this type of shopping! Anything and everything chocolate, made by Hershey (some you may have never seen). They also own Dagoba and Scharffenberger Chocolate and they also make the Starbucks truffles.

| After visiting Gettysburg, we were ready for some dinner. This is the traffic circle in downtown Gettysburg, lots of neat buildings around the circle.

| I needed to do laundry, so we went to Intercourse, PA to the joint Laundromat and car wash. This was just down the street, a huge retail area for Amish items and souvenirs. Buses and more Buses were parked here with tourists.

After PA, we head over to Wading River, New Jersey, not too far from Atlantic City, NJ. But those stories are for the October page. We end the month of September while still in New Jersey, so there might be a few more things to see in October... |
